Review: Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash-Off (Nia)

General information

Today I am going to review one of the most popular masks made by SKIN FOOD(스킨푸드). Yes I am talking about the "Black Sugar Mask Wash Off". For those who don't know, SKIN FOOD was established in 1957. This cosmetic company is very known and very loved by korean people. Since the mask is one of their bestsellers and
it supposedly removes blackhead I
decided to purchase it. So let's look at this exfoliating face mask.

Ingredients

Sucrose (table sugar), peg-7 glyceryl cocoate (from coconut oil - dissolves dirt and grease),  glycerin (softness), euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax (a wax secreted by honey bees from the plant Euphorbia cerifera.  Main reason for the mask's brown colour), macadamia ternifolia seed oil  (from the nut meat of the macadamia), shea butter (from the shea trea), and much much more.

First impression

The packaging is very SKIN FOOD-like. All their masks come in the exact same packaging. Look healthy but not boring. Everything is made of plastic. There is a thin lid under the main one. Based on what I have read and heard, it's made to minimize the amount of outside air that can get into your product and create bacteria. I personally like it as it avoids the products from going out in case you drop it. That is not really possible with the Sugar Mask one since the consistency of it is very thick. Even so, the mask is still super soft when smoothed out on a wet area. I like the fine sugar in it as it gives me the ability to really scrub my face well and focus on my T-zone. Each package contains 100 g so you get a lot with each purchase. As for the smell it reminds me of vaseline and pepsi twist. A description in english is written on the package. It's a super nice detail, but it doesn't say much and thus force you to go search for more info online.

How to use

Optimal layer: 1g for entire face.
Apply your Black Sugar Mask after cleansing your face. While your face is still wet take a tiny amount (with a dry spatula/mask applicator) of the product and rub it onto your skin with circular outward motions.  Avoid eyes and mouth area. I personally keep on massaging the product onto my skin until all the fine sugar melts away. If you feel any kind of irritation SKIN FOOD recommends you to add some water/toner as you rub it into your skin.  The layer on your face should be as thin as the picture above shows. 1g (half tea spoon) is enough for your entire face. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and rinse off. Only use this product 1-2 times a week. No deep mask, especially exfoliating masks, should be overused. Overusing peg-7 glyceryl cocoate can leave you vulnerable to more dirt and step up the aging process.

Price and quality

This product can be found online and the price is around 10-14 dollars. I payed 11 dollars for mine. The consistency is very thick as the picture shows. This product is of very high quality and 1g is all you need to for your entire face. The quality of this product can be compared to Ole Henriksen's "Walnut Complexion Scrub" which contains 50g and cost approximately 41$. SKIN FOOD's Sugar Mask gives you a more dry outcome compared to Ole Henriksen's scrub, however, the Sugar Mask is a lot more effective against blackheads than the walnut scrub.
With the high quality and a tiny amount pr. usage I estimate the Sugar Mask to last between 8 months and 1 year (at least).

Skintype

All.

Overall thoughts

The Black Sugar Mask Wash off claims to exfoliate dead skin effectively while giving the skin a healthy and lively look. Believe it or not. This is the cheapest and most effective exfoliating scrub that I have ever used! Everything they promise will be achieved and you will notice the difference after the first time. By nature my skin is super kind to me. I never break out, however I do suffer from blackheads on my T-zone no matter what I use. Even though Ole Henriksen's "Walnut complexion Scrub" has helped me a little, it hasn't been effective against the blackheads. Within 2-3 days everything returns to normal... With this mask I truly feel and see a reduction of blackheads.  I have gotten so many compliments about my skin even after several days passing from my last deep treatment with this mask. My face looks super healthy and clean.
This mask contains natural product, is cheap, smells good, and actually works. Just love it! My one and only mask when it comes to exfoliating my skin. Thank you SKIN FOOD!
Because of this huge victory I decided to purchase all their bestsellers as well as 5 other masks. Please look out for more reviews from SKIN FOOD!

Rating

I highly recommend this product. Best exfoliating mask I have ever used. The only reason why I am giving it 5/6 butterflies is that I wish this mask could leave my face a little more moisturized.
I recommend this one over Ole Henriksens very famous "Walnut Complexion Scrub"
